I use Jing on my PC’s and I love it. Jing is made by TechSmith, the same people who make Camtasia. I even upgraded to the pro version of Jing. screen grabs, screen shots, mini tutorials all done quickly easily with editing capabilities built right into it and it uploads pics straight to flickr and vid straight to YouTube. Unfortunately it runs on .net and unless I want to run wine or something to jun .net and Jing I need to find a somewhat decent replacement.

This post had a pretty comprehensive list. Unfortunately nothing as robust as Jing. Maybe someday. Or maybe I’ll finally get my g33k on and figure out how tro run .net on Linux.

If you use Ubuntu, do this:
System > Administration > Synaptic
Search for “video screen capture” and select things like Xvidcap, Recordmydesktop, pyvnc2swf - there are probably many others but that’s a start.
